“What I love in Georgia is the Georgian people. They are full of energy, can feel happiness, love to convene and our astonishment,” said Natalia Bayona, Executive Director of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (WTO) speaking about marking the 2024 World Tourism Day in Georgia.
According to Natalia Bayona, this year’s slogan Tourism and Peace was a strong message since humankind could maintain the most human economic sector through mutual understanding, investment, economic development and growth, and social sustainability.
The WTO Executive Director spoke about Georgia’s economic success.
“For the last 10 years, GDP in Georgia has increased by 5%. As for foreign direct investment, Georgia observed the inflow of historical investment flows from 2022. Everything that Georgia does to preserve that is rational and correctly calculated. Its future is based on tradition, which is ultimately the uniqueness of this land,” she said.
Georgia hosted the World Tourism Day for the first time on September 27, 2024.
