“I also disliked the visuals of the map because it is unacceptable to me and many of my friends that while relying on real facts, it is unclear on the map that the territory of Georgia is fully delineated,” stated Gia Volski, First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia.

His remarks came in response to social media criticism regarding the clarity of the map displayed by Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.

Volski acknowledged the need for better design, noting that grey areas on the map may not be well perceived on screen, which could lead to misunderstandings. However, he emphasized that those making the harshest criticisms of the visuals are, in his view, bear responsibility for the occupation and the lives lost as a result.

“It is disappointing that the very people who bear responsibility for the current situation are now calling for clearer representations on the map,” he said.

He pointed out that the criticism should not overshadow the broader political context, asserting that the government’s stance remains unchanged regardless of any technical shortcomings.

“While a design flaw may warrant critique, it does not reflect the policy we uphold,” Volski concluded.
