Vasil Maghlaperidze: Legislative changes linked to Teleschool are necessary for the channel

The amendments to the Law on Broadcasting in connection with the educational project – Teleschool (Teleskola) are necessary for the channel to have the right to work and cooperate with the Ministry of Education, – Vasil Maghlaperidze, General-Director of Georgian First Channel stated.

As Maghlaperidze notes, the legislative changes are not related to commerce since changes are necessary for culture and education fields, concerning to next generation.

According to the General Director, Teleschool will acquire an important function in the fall.

“From the fall, Teleschool will have a very necessary supportive function – necessary for the whole country and citizens of all ages” – Vasil Maghlaperidze added.

The Ministry of Education of Georgia and the Government of Georgia has prepared amendments to the Law of Georgia on Broadcasting regarding the educational project – Teleschool (Teleskola). According to the changes, the administrative body, political party, official and public servant will be banned to fund Public Broadcaster. However, as an exception, this ban will not apply to educational and cultural programs.
