USAID Assistant Administrator: We work hard with CEC, civil society to ensure 2024 election is fair
“We are working really hard with the Central Election Commission, with civil society, with all parties to ensure that the 2024 election is free, fair, and unassailable,” said Erin McKee, Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) during her visit to Georgia.
She went on to say that “the democratic voices of Georgia are heard and that the will of the Georgian people is what is the outcome of the election.”
“We know that an open, free, prosperous, democratic society is a flag to Putin and the Kremlin. And we are working really hard with the Central Election Commission, with civil society, with all parties to ensure that the 2024 election is free, fair, and unassailable.
We can’t stop malign actors from trying to undermine democracy, but what we can do is protect the process to ensure that the outcome is unassailable.
So that the democratic voices of Georgia are heard and that the will of the Georgian people is what is the outcome of the election. We stand with you to ensure that democracy is protected and preserved no matter what it takes,” Erin McKee noted.
