US Congressman: Concerned about Georgia-US relations; Here to express support for strong ties
US Congressman Mike Turner emphasized America’s commitment to supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity and strengthening the partnership between the two nations.
During a press conference in Tbilisi, he expressed concern over the current state of relations between the US and Georgia, noting that this bipartisan visit represents a unified effort from both the House and Senate to address these issues.
Turner highlighted the importance of America’s support in helping Georgia build democratic institutions and achieve Euro-Atlantic integration, especially in the face of threats from Russia.
“The current relationship between the United States and Georgia is disappointing, and we look forward to a time when these relationships can improve,” the Congressman stated.
Turner also noted that during meetings in Georgia, there was no indication or evidence of efforts to reset relations or steps being taken by the Prime Minister to initiate such a process.
