US Ambassador says Georgia-US relations being reviewed, hopes to be balanced

“Our bilateral relations are being reviewed. It is sad, but we hope that our relations will be balanced,” said US Ambassador to Georgia, Robin Dunnigan remarking on the indefinite postponement of the Noble Partner exercises in Georgia.

The Ambassador expressed hope that the relations would be balanced.

“It is certainly sad, but not incomprehensible, we have discussed this matter and the Secretary of State has clearly stated that our bilateral relations were being reviewed, therefore, the aforementioned exercises were cancelled in this context, as there were public statements from certain individuals, including from members of the ruling party, and therefore the relations are being reviewed. That’s why it’s sad, but we hope that our relations will be balanced,” she said.

On July 5, the US Department of State announced the indefinite postponement of the Noble Partner exercise in Georgia, originally scheduled for July 25 – August 6, 2024, as part of the US-Georgia relationship review.
