The parliamentary faction National Movement has urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to invite the OSCE/ODIHR (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe/Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights) to observe the upcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia.
Tina Bokuchava emphasized during a press conference that it is the responsibility of the Foreign Ministry to invite OSCE/ODIHR, based on which the main election observation mission is formed and dispatched to Georgia.
“The government has not invited the OSCE/ODIHR (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe/Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights) so far. The upcoming October elections in Georgia are considered geopolitically significant, with the potential to influence the country’s European future,” Bokuchava said.
Zurab Tchiaberashvili echoed these views, noting that holding elections in a transparent and fair environment is crucial for Georgia’s progress toward joining the European Union. He emphasized the need for both long-term and short-term observation missions for the geopolitically important elections.
