UNM ready to physically defend country's interests

“We must physically defend the Constitution since it stipulates our pro-Western course,” said Levan Khabeishvili, Chair of the opposition United National Movement party, at the Parliament, where a joint Foreign Relations and Defense Committees’ session was delayed due to a physical and verbal altercation.

Khabeishvili called People’s Power’s draft law on Foreign Agents anti-Western law.

“This is anti-Western, Putinist law. These people should be aware that they will be remembered as Putin’s, the Kremlin’s, and Russia’s workers and agents. We had to physically protect our country’s interests. We have a plan for resisting and acting. Is it essential to physically protect something? We’ll do it physically or legally,” Khabeishvili stated.

The opposition attempted to let the media and NGO representatives attend today’s committee session, which resulted in a clash. The draft law on foreign agents, tabled by the People’s Power movement, is scheduled to be discussed today.
