UNM MP tables amendment to NATO PA resolution on Strengthening stability and security in Black Sea region
Tina Bokuchava, a member of the United National Movement, submitted an amendment to the draft resolution from the NATO PA Defence and Security Committee on Strengthening stability and security in the Black Sea region following Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine at the current session in Copenhagen. The rapporteur favoured the amendment.
Bokuchava proposed an amendment condeming Russia’s intention to built a naval base in Georgia’s Russia-occupied region of Abkhazia.
“In a gravely concerning recent development, Russia declared its intention to build a naval base in occupied Georgia. In light of this new threat, as a representative of Georgia, I propose the following amendment condeming Russia’s declared intention to build a naval base in Ochamchire, located in Georgian territory illegally occupied by Russia, threatening to further destabilize the Black Sea region,” the favoured amendment reads.
The Great Britain, the United States, and the Ukrainian delegations co-signed the amendment.
