UNM: Mikheil Saakashvili's nomination as PM candidate to be "natural"
“Mikheil Saakashvili (jailed ex-president) will decide on his own how he will be involved in the election process,” said Petre Tsiskarishvili, a member of the opposition United National Movement (UNM) party.
Petre Tsiskarishvili was asked if Saakashvili would be the UNM’s candidate for the post of Prime Minister.
According to Tsiskarishvili, there is a “solid number of people” who would like to see Mikheil Saakashvili as the PM.
“It is not only my opinion. There is a solid number of people, party members, who share this idea. You will see how Saakashvili engages. Of course, it is up to him to decide. I hope he will announce his decision in the next couple of weeks,” Tsiskarishvili said.
Answering the question if Mikheil Saakashvili received the offer, the UNM member said:
“Receiving such an offer is an incorrect formulation. He is the founder of our party and leader. He has decided to be actively involved in the political campaign and elections. That is why I said that Mikheil Saakashvili’s nomination as PM candidate from our party would be natural,” he said.
