“The arrival of Mikheil Saakashvili (ex-president) will strengthen the opposition. The entire opposition will celebrate victory on October 2,” Petre Tsiskarishvili, a member of the United National Movement (UNM) party, commented on Saakashvili’s planned arrival in Georgia.
According to Tsiskarishvili, Saakashvili will arrive on October 2 night, when protection of votes at the precincts ‘would be needed’. He said the third president of Georgia built the modern Georgian statehood and all charges against Saakashvili are absurd.
“This will be political arrest and political persecution. After October 2, the Georgian Dream will have no political clout, as it will be much weaker politically,” Tsiskarishvili claimed.
Ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili pledged to arrive in Tbilisi on October 2 to protect the Georgian people’s free choice following the local elections and take part in the ‘salvation’ of the country. In his video address on September 27, Saakashvili demonstrated a ticked he booked for the October 2 Kyiv-Tbilisi flight.
