UNM Chair: Court to decide whether to keep Saakashvili alive or execute him

Nika Melia, United National Movement (UNM) party Chair, on Wednesday, said jailed ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili’s transfer abroad “is the only option” as according to the Ombudswoman’s medical Concilium, “the resources for Saakashvili’s treatment are depleted.”

Melia pledged the party would “use every opportunity required to keep Saakashvili alive.”

“The Court has to decide whether to keep Mikheil Saakashvili alive or execute him on the government’s command. Our entire effort will be focused on these processes,” he underscored.

Melia noted that “the government should realize that many people will not accept the death sentence.”
