UNM Bokuchava criticizes Mamuka Khazaradze's remarks on Saakashvili as unfair
Tina Bokuchava, a leader of the Unity–National Movement, criticized recent remarks made by Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of the Strong Georgia coalition, concerning Georgia’s ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili.
Bokuchava stated that referring to Saakashvili as ‘prisoner Saakashvili’ and suggesting that his right to speak in court is a privilege was unjust. She further warned that any divisions within the opposition serve Ivanishvili’s interests.
“I find it deeply unjust to refer to President Saakashvili as “prisoner Saakashvili” and to view his right to speak in court as a privilege. He is being detained by the very court that legitimizes Ivanishvili’s stolen elections, impeached the fifth president, and issued political verdicts against numerous opposition leaders.
Creating cracks within the opposition is Ivanishvili’s key tactic, as he knows a hijacked election won’t gain legitimacy in Georgia or abroad if the opposition is united. It’s our duty to the Georgian people to protect this unity and work together to reclaim their victory,” Bokuchava wrote on social media.
Khazaradze, after questioning by a magistrate judge, had stated, “Saakashvili has the opportunity to speak for an hour and a half on any topic, while I am denied the right to speak in court on matters of national importance.”
