Unity-National Movement's Vashadze hopes for strong U.S. support for Georgia under Trump
Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the Unity-National Movement bloc, congratulated Donald Trump on his election as President of the United States.
Vashadze expressed optimism that under Trump’s presidency, regional developments would improve.
“I arrived late because I was speaking with members of Donald Trump’s team. I congratulated them on their victory. I am confident that the U.S. will stand by Georgia and will respond to the systemic electoral fraud perpetrated by the Georgian Dream party. The U.S. maintains a systemic approach to cooperation with Georgia, which is significant. Once again, I congratulate Donald Trump on this remarkable victory, and I believe that conditions in our region will improve as well,” he stated.
Vashadze noted that the United National Movement was the only political party from Georgia represented at Trump’s nomination event, with Tina Bokuchava receiving an invitation. He emphasized that no members from the Georgian Dream party were present and that Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze had been denied a meeting with Trump in New York.
“By the way, Boris Johnson, who wishes us success, is one of Trump’s closest supporters. This confirms that we do not view America through a partisan lens. Our people receive full support from the U.S., and I believe this will expedite the process of removing the Russian regime,” Vashadze asserted.
Projections indicate that Donald Trump has won the presidential race in the U.S.
