Unity-National Movement urges President to release Mikheil Saakashvili
“Ivanishvili (GD Honorary Chair) declared war on Georgian people and Western friends. It is Salome Zourabichvili’s (Georgian President) duty to release the opposition’s main leader Mikheil Saakashvili from political imprisonment. Otherwise, her words will not sound sincere,” said Nika Oboladze, a member of the Unity-National Movement coalition.
According to Nika Oboladze, Mikheil Saakashvili should be free.
“If Salome Zourabichvili is sincere in her words when she says that Ivanishvili declared war on the Georgian people and Western friends and announces to abolish the opposition, she should be honest in her activities.
This means that the main leader of the opposition, the person who has the most influence on Georgian society and has the biggest support from both the opposition and government representatives, should be released from unlawful imprisonment. Saakashvili should be free, and Zourabichvili should be sincere in her words and activities.
Of course, Ivanishvili declared war on Georgian people and friends, the unity of Georgian people. But this requires resistance. It is Salome Zourabichvili’s duty to release political prisoner Saakashvili,” he said.
