Unity-National Movement: Jailed ex-president stands strong

“Mikheil Saakashvili, who devoted himself to the development of Georgia and was the first to raise the EU flag in the country, has been in custody under the Georgian Dream for three years,” stated Sopo Japaridze, Chair of the Unity-National Movement coalition’s Tbilisi organization.

According to Japaridze, Saakashvili returned a sense of hope to his homeland; during his presidency, Georgia ranked at the top of various influential and authoritative institutions. It was recognized as a model reformer nation that successfully battled corruption.

“Today, although this remarkable individual is confined within four walls, Mikheil Saakashvili remains as strong as ever. Recently, our coalition leaders, alongside Saakashvili’s mother, Giuli Alasania, visited numerous cities to present the ex-president’s book on reviving the spirit of determination. I believe that the power of victory will awaken on October 26, and we will liberate our country from Russia’s oppression.

We will initiate active negotiations with the European Union and ensure our citizens receive the benefits they deserve as soon as possible. Our citizens will attain worthy wages, pensions, and job opportunities, and our students will no longer have to worry about finding housing when they pursue their studies,” she added.
