The United Neutral Georgia public movement was founded at the Sheraton Metechi Hotel. The members announced that the movement would transform into a political party one year on and explained the reasons and goals why they decided to establish a new public movement.
According to them, Georgian people have “to better perceive the reality concerning the country’s foreign political priorities and claimed that the new movement would bring “significant innovation to the unhealthy political discourse.”
As they said, the Georgian people had been the political hostage of European integration topic for the last two years, which was a “threat to Georgian statehood,” comparing the situation with Ukraine.
“Today, many examples confirm that European policy and bureaucracy serve foreign interests instead of the interests of European people. With foreign instructions, they have opened the door to total migration, which leads to losing national identities. They replaced the European traditional religion, Christianity, with a new one called LGBTQI+. If everything continues in this direction and pace, nothing will be left of democratic, economically strong and Christian Europe. Dissolving the EU before 2030 is a real scenario,” they said.
The movement members went on to say that Georgian politicians are prompted to act according to European leaders’ statements and resolutions, which threatens Georgia’s sovereignty.
“By joining any international union, the state gives up some of its sovereignty. In case of joining the European Union, the country formally loses 50 per cent of its sovereignty to the European Union, while informally it has to give up all of its sovereignty,” they said, adding the goals of Georgia’s EU accession were devoid of “rational judgment.”
The movement members believe that “we should build independent, democratic and neutral Georgia, which will be a friend of all countries, including the US and Europe.”
They called people to “think pragmatically” instead of “guiding with false dogmas.”
The public movement will be based in Tbilisi. The members are Vato Shakarashvili, Bidzina Giorgobiani, Nana Kakabadze, Gela Nikolaishvili and Levan Nikoleishvili.
