The United Airports of Georgia is participating for the first time in the world’s largest travel industry event, WTM London, which is being held in the UK. This event has been a key player in global tourism for 44 years and brings together major travel industry leaders from around the world.
Irakli Karkashadze, the Director General of United Airports of Georgia, emphasized the importance of the event and noted discussions with significant European airlines, including British Airways, easyJet, and Edelweiss. These discussions focused on opportunities for future cooperation and the expansion of Georgia’s aviation market.
“We are witnessing a growing demand and strong interest from airlines at forums like WTM London. Together with the National Tourism Administration, we aim to make the newly introduced destinations and airlines more profitable and attractive once flights begin,” Karkashadze stated.
The conversations also covered plans for the 2025 summer navigation season, trends in passenger traffic growth, and improvements in Georgia’s global connectivity. Key topics included increasing flight frequencies and adding new destinations to Georgia’s aviation network.
Karkashadze expressed optimism about the success of Georgia’s collaboration with airlines. “We expect to attract more carriers to the market, which will boost both passenger traffic and the number of flights,” he added.
The event includes a special stand for the National Tourism Administration, featuring 21 Georgian tourism companies that showcase Georgia’s potential.
Over 43,000 visitors are expected to attend WTM London.
