United Airports Director: New European airline confirms Georgia's aviation competitiveness and boosts tourism
The entry of yet another European airline into the Georgian market affirms our country’s aviation competitiveness and will have a significant impact on our tourism potential, stated Irakli Karkashadze, Director General of United Airports of Georgia, regarding the British low-cost carrier easyJet’s entry into the Georgian aviation market.
“Negotiations with the airline about starting operations in Georgia were certainly not easy, but we’re pleased to have achieved the best outcome,” Karkashadze said.
“EasyJet, a British multinational low-cost carrier, will commence flights to Georgia simultaneously from three European cities – London Luton Airport, Geneva, and Milan – where it has its largest bases and which represent strategic destinations for us. Most importantly, these flights will be quite affordable for travellers. We hope this will significantly increase passenger traffic and the number of international visitors from the UK, Switzerland, and Italy in the future.”
The British budget airline easyJet will operate flights to Tbilisi International Airport from London, Geneva, and Milan. Flight operations are scheduled to begin in the spring of 2025.
The inaugural flight from Geneva to Tbilisi will take place on March 31, with the airline operating two flights per week on this route. From April 1, direct flights from London and Milan will commence. Direct regular flights from London Luton and Milan Malpensa airports will also operate twice weekly. Tickets are already available at competitive prices on the airline’s website, www.easyjet.com.
EasyJet, a British multinational airline, was founded 29 years ago and currently flies to over 1,000 destinations in 35 countries. The airline’s headquarters is located at London Luton Airport.
