Ukrainian MP Yasko insists Saakashvili needs high-tech medical assistance
“According to ECHR conclusion, Mikheil Saakashvili needs high-tech medical assistance,” Rada MP Lisa Yasko told reporters at the N18 Gldani prison infirmary.
Lisa Yasko also added she had not been allowed to see the ex-president in prison for four days. “I am convinced that Saakashvili needs high-tech medical assistance. That is obvious and is also mentioned in the ECHR conclusion received two days ago. Of course, he needs medical aid. It is inadmissible to transfer a person to an ordinary prison without medical equipment. It is impossible, and this violates his rights,” she said.
On November 10, the Strasbourg-based European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) urged the ex-president to call off his hunger strike. The Court further decided that the Government should ensure his safety in prison and provide him with appropriate medical care for the post-hunger strike recovery period. Law enforcers arrested Mikheil Saakashvili in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi on October 1. He has been on a hunger strike since the very first day of his arrest.
