Ukrainian MP: Georgian people to protect future of Georgia and Mikheil Saakashvili
“I believe Georgia should be really happy because it has such a person, Mikheil Saakashvili, who can go for everything for his people. It means a lot,” said Lisa Yasko, a member of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada.
The Ukrainian MP, a said partner of Mikheil Saakashvili, together with representatives of the Ukrainian Consulate, visited imprisoned ex-president of Georgia and the Head of the Executive Committee, National Reforms Council of Ukraine, at the Rustavi prison.
Lisa Yasko said Saakashvili is a political prisoner and the Georgian people have to protect the future of both Georgia and the country’s ex-president.
“I am very proud of him as a person who loves his country. I also want to say that this is a great struggle that you need to win. That is a fight for the future, and I very much want Saakashvili to be released soon. At this moment, he is a political prisoner, and that is unacceptable. A very bad thing has happened to your president. That requires struggle that is up to the Georgian people. You must definitely protect the future of yourself and Mikheil Saakashvili because he has a big heart and the ability to make big changes. We appreciate this in Ukraine, and we envy you for having such a president. He is a Ukrainian politician, and we want you to protect him here,” Yasko said.
Georgian law enforcers arrested the ex-president in Tbilisi on October 1 and sent him to Rustavi prison.
