U.S. Department of State Counselor arrives in Georgia

Senior Policy Advisor to the U.S. Secretary of State, Counselor Derek Chollet is in Tbilisi for a two-day official visit.

During his official visit, Counselor Chollet will meet representatives of the Georgian government, members of opposition political parties, and civil society leaders to discuss how our countries can work together to help Georgia build a strong, secure, and prosperous democracy.

“Counselor Chollet will travel to Tbilisi, Georgia, from May 18 to 19 for consultations with our Georgian partners about European security and democratic development.
He will meet with government, opposition, and civil society representatives for discussions on Russia’s continuing occupation of parts of Georgia, on the Kremlin’s brutal war against Ukraine, and on how to advance the people of Georgia’s aspirations for a democratic, peaceful, prosperous, and Euro-Atlantic future,” the U.S. Department of State said on May 17.

Before visiting Georgia, Counselor Chollet arrived in Chisinau, Moldova, and then, on May 20, he will leave for London.
