Turkish Ambassador: Erdogan to visit Georgia, timing to be confirmed
“President Erdogan will visit Georgia. That is what he said during the press meeting, but the timing is to be agreed at a later stage,” Turkish Ambassador to Georgia, Fatma Ceren Yazgan, told GPB.
According to the Ambassador, the Turkish side is working with the Government of Georgia on the schedule.
“When the previous Prime Minister Gakharia went to Turkey in October 2019, it was agreed at the negotiations that there was supposed to be a long-waited high-level strategic council meeting in Turkey attended by the Cabinet members of two countries. President Erdogan was expected to visit Georgia in spring, but then we had the Covid pandemic and everything closed and precarious.
Now we are trying to find a day. We are looking forward to the government of Georgia to carry on with this new political situation and coordinate the visit schedules to have the visit of my president as soon as we can. Because strategic partnership between Turkey and Georgia is there. That is something we cherish, but we also have to nourish.
President Erdogan will visit Georgia, this is what he said during the press meeting, but the timing is to be agreed at a later stage. As an Ambassador, I hope we would be able to do this as soon as possible,” Turkish Ambassador stated.
