Tragic car accident in Tbilisi: two bodies recovered from Mtkvari River, one still missing
Rescuers from the Emergency Situations Management Service have recovered the bodies of two passengers from a vehicle that plunged into the Mtkvari River during a traffic accident in Tbilisi yesterday, the agency reported.
According to the official statement, the bodies have been retrieved from the water, and all necessary legal procedures are now underway. The vehicle itself has also been lifted from the riverbed.
Search efforts for the missing individual continue around the clock. Divers, watercraft, and specialised units from the Ministry of Internal Affairs are actively assisting rescuers in the ongoing operation.
“Following the emergency call, firefighters launched a rescue operation, successfully saving one person from the water. During the search, the bodies of a man and a woman were also discovered and have been sent for examination,” the Emergency Situations Management Service stated.
