Tochinoshin's retirement ceremony held in Tokyo

Georgian sumo wrestler Levan Gorgadze, Tochinoshin, has officially retired from Grand Sumo. The retirement ceremony, also known as dampatsu-shiki – a topknot-cutting, took place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan Palace in Tokyo.

Tochinoshin had announced the end of his sumo career in May 2023.

Levan Gorgadze achieved significant success in sumo, winning the Emperor’s Cup in January 2018. Following this victory, he received the rank of Ozeki in May 2018, which is the second-highest rank in the sumo hierarchy.
