Tina Khidasheli – It is clear that Trump was lobbyist of Georgia and Ukraine at Helsinki meeting

“During 10 years decisions were made at NATO Summits so that there was no big elephant in the room but everybody could see it,” Tina Khidasheli, former Defense Minister thus commented about the statement made by Russian President Vladimir Putin about Georgia’s NATO integration.

Khidasheli says that there is nothing new in Putin’s statements. However, it is not a coincidence that the statement was made after the meeting of Putin with US President Donald Trump. “It is clear that Trump raised issues of Georgia’s and Ukraine’s integration into NATO during the meeting. He acted as lobbyist of the countries,” Khidasheli claimed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia’s reaction to Georgia, Ukraine NATO membership will be extremely negative. “For us, well, it’s a direct and immediate threat for our national security…moving this NATO infrastructure towards our borders would be a threat, and the reaction would be extremely negative,” Putin said in an interview with Fox News.
