Technical inspection of vehicles will be checked by 1 200 "smart cameras"
According to Beka Liluashvili, the Head of the Analytics and Reforms Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the technical inspection of vehicles is inefficient because the patrol crews are randomly check cars whether they has been inspected.
“Technical inspection with patrol police crews is quite inefficient; Therefore, This process should be maximally automated, tied to video surveillance system that will increase efficiency in the implementation of technical inspection. Starting from 2019 technical inspection is obligatory for all cars. It’s about a million vehicles” – Beka Liluashvili said.
According to him, 1 200 “smart camera” will be installed across Georgia, which will check vehicles.
