Tbilisi will host a Legends Match organized by the Georgian Football Federation and Tbilisi City Hall on September 21. Georgian football legends will face off against the legends of the Italian football club Milan.
The agreement for this match was signed today in Milan by representatives of the Georgian Football Federation and Fondazione Milan. The signing event took place at the Casa Milan Museum, which showcases the history of the football club. The event was attended by the Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze, who is also a former player for both the Georgian national team and Milan football club.
Kaladze expressed pride in his achievements with Milan, where he won numerous trophies, including two UEFA Champions League titles.
“I have a great sense of pride when I reflect on the trophies I’ve won over the years. All the trophies our team has secured are displayed in the Milan Museum, including the two cups I won with the club—one in Manchester and the other in Athens. Milan is a team with a rich history, and I had the privilege of spending the best 10 years of my career here. As a football player, I achieved everything possible, including the ultimate dream of every player: winning the Champions League. I am the happiest person to have had the chance to do this twice. I remember the immense joy in Georgia and how the Georgian fans celebrated my victories with Milan,” Kaladze said.
The Legends match will feature former Milan stars like Kaka, Rivaldo, Seedorf, Cafu, and others.
Temur Ketsbaia will coach the Georgian team, which will include other legendary Georgian players alongside Mayor Kaladze.
“Such events provide great inspiration to our children and future generations. I’m confident it will be an exciting and memorable match, giving fans the chance to see their favourite players, whom they once supported, right here in Georgia,” he added.
