Tbilisi Mayor: Unfounded claims can't undermine election results

“Such unfounded statements cannot undermine the elections,” said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze in response to accusations from Giorgi Gakharia, leader of the For Georgia party.

Kaladze emphasized that the parliamentary elections were conducted in a peaceful environment, supported by relevant conclusions.

“This is a typical campaign of lies aimed at harming the country. In reality, the elections were held peacefully and freely. The OSCE/ODIHR issued statements, published interim conclusions, and provided a final assessment. Such baseless claims cannot jeopardize the elections. The Georgian Dream won because the majority of the population desires peace and economic development,” he stated.

Regarding the summons of Natia Mezvrishvili, deputy chair of the For Georgia party, to the prosecutor’s office as part of an investigation into alleged election fraud, Kaladze remarked that her refusal to cooperate is merely speculation.

“As usual, speculation and falsehoods abound. They claim the elections were rigged and have held briefings on this matter. The Central Election Commission has approached the prosecutor’s office, initiating an investigation to provide an appropriate response. They should present evidence. But what can they present that does not exist?” Kaladze concluded.
