Tbilisi Mayor: No cause for deterioration in Georgia-US relations
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze emphasized that there is no cause for the deterioration of relations between Georgia and the United States, or Georgia and the West. Responding to a question from journalists, Kaladze expressed positive expectations regarding upcoming discussions in the US Senate about Georgia, affirming the Georgian government’s readiness for cooperation.

Kaladze reiterated the government’s commitment to deepening relationships and underscored the achievements on the European integration path as a collective success of the Georgian Dream party and the Georgian people.

“I would like to emphasize once again that the Georgian government is ready for partnership, friendship, and the deepening of relations. We are prepared to enhance our existing relationships because any success we have achieved on the path of European integration is due to the efforts of the Georgian Dream together with the Georgian people.

Regarding our expectations, as I mentioned, we are ready to cooperate. There is simply no cause for relations between Georgia and America, or between Georgia and the West, to deteriorate,” he said.

Regarding claims that Georgia is regressing democratically and adopting anti-democratic laws, Kaladze dismissed these as false accusations.

“Our population clearly sees the truth—both the good and the bad, the friends and the foes. Therefore, there is no basis for these claims. The Georgian government acts in the best interest of our country and its future. We will not allow anyone to exploit our country’s interests for their own purposes, leading to the kind of trouble that, unfortunately, is occurring in Ukraine today,” he added.
