Tbilisi Mayor inspects ongoing rehabilitation of Mikheil Ghakhokidze Street
The rehabilitation of Mikheil Ghakhokidze Street in Samgori district is underway. Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze and his deputy Irakli Bendeliani inspected the works, which are being carried out by Georgian Water and Power. The first stage involves changing the water and sewage network on the 2,400-meter-long street. In the second stage, the City Service of Infrastructure Development will handle drainage and road works.
Kaladze stated that the street, previously in poor condition, will be fully rehabilitated by April. The initial phase of underground communication works will conclude by October, followed by road construction.
The project includes placing overhead power lines in underground cable channels, installing a new outdoor lighting network with modern LED lights, paving the roadway with asphalt, and providing pedestrian sidewalks. The infrastructure will be adapted for disabled individuals, with pedestrian islands and zebra crossings.
