Tbilisi Mayor inspects fan zone, says all conditions set for Georgia's national team to showcase beautiful football
Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Andria Basilaia, visited First Republic Square where a large screen has been installed for Georgian football fans. This public viewing area is organized jointly by Tbilisi City Hall and the Georgian Football Federation.
The square will host a public screening of the Georgia-Albania football match. Attendance at the event is free.
“Today, our national team has a crucial match. There’s immense interest from the fans, with countless people eager to support our fellows,” Kaladze stated.
“As you know, Mikheil Meskhi Stadium is smaller than Dinamo Arena and accommodates fewer spectators. Therefore, we’re continuing our tradition of providing an opportunity for those who couldn’t get into the stadium to watch the match on a big screen at First Republic Square. I wish our national team success. It’s truly a significant encounter, and I’m confident our fellows will do everything to make Georgian fans proud,” the Tbilisi Mayor added.
Assessing today’s match, the Tbilisi Mayor acknowledged that despite some absences, Georgian players will give their all to please the supporters.
“Albania is generally an awkward opponent, not just for our team but for everyone. Today’s match won’t be easy, but I believe our players will do everything to succeed. Given our tournament standing, today’s victory is crucial. The pitch is in excellent condition, unlike during the Ukraine match. All conditions are set for Georgia’s national team to showcase beautiful football. Unfortunately, Giorgi Kochorashvili is absent. He’s one of the team’s outstanding leaders and a key player. I’ll reiterate without hesitation that Otar Kiteishvili and Giorgi Kochorashvili are vital players for our national team. Kochorashvili’s absence is a significant loss, but we have many young players. I want to wish our fellows success. The main thing is to maintain the same determination and passion as in previous matches, and I’m sure we’ll see results,” Kakha Kaladze declared.
The next UEFA Nations League group stage match will take place today at 20:00 at Mikheil Meskhi Stadium, where the Georgian national football team will face the Albanian national team.
