Tbilisi Mayor: If President Zourabichvili chooses to pardon, she would share UNM politics
In general, a normal person would be unhappy about the arrest and imprisonment of anyone. However, over the past nine years, the country has witnessed significant challenges marked by numerous repressions and the suffering of many families, said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
According to Kaladze, if Salome Zourabichvili pardons Mikheil Saakashvili, she will align herself with the United National Movement.
“I cannot imagine a normal person who loves his country and people and is in politics to subject fellow citizens to the kind of actions witnessed during the tenure of the United National Movement. Have these individuals demonstrated remorse, acknowledged their mistakes, or apologized to society? Regrettably, the answer is No. On the contrary, they continue to do the same today; they have fewer opportunities but use everything they can for hatred, blackmail, and bullying; this is their usual handwriting—psychological terror.
If President Salome Zourabichvili chooses to grant a pardon in this context, she would be a sharer and a carrier of the same line propagated by the UNM and Saakashvili,” remarked Kaladze.
“Salome Zourabichvili’s one signature can return the father to my children and, most importantly, restore political balance in Georgia,” said today former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, attending his trial at the Tbilisi City Court remotely via a video link.
