Tbilisi City Hall expects heavy traffic due to high attendance at GD event
Tbilisi City Hall announced that heavy traffic is anticipated throughout the capital due to the large number of attendees expected at the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia pre-election event on October 23. Officials urged citizens to avoid using private vehicles to help minimize travel disruptions.
The City Hall provided detailed information about traffic restrictions and operational routes for that day.
The final pre-election event for the GD party will take place in the capital, resulting in a complete traffic ban on Liberty Square and Rustaveli Avenue. This restriction will be in effect from midnight (00:00) on October 23 until the conclusion of the event.
Movement will be restricted on Kote Abkhazi and Shalva Dadiani streets leading toward Freedom Square. Vehicles heading to Liberty Square should use the ramp on Baratashvili Street, while those travelling to Rustaveli Avenue will be directed to First Republic Square.
Traffic will remain open on Giorgi Leonidze, Pavle Ingorokva, Aleksandre Chavchavadze, Aleksandre Griboedov, Nikoloz Baratashvili, and Revaz Tabukashvili streets. Access on Ivane Machabli Street will be adjusted to allow traffic from Asatiani Street to Leonidze Street via Machabli Street.
Drivers can reach the streets in the Mtatsminda district from Petre Melikishvili Avenue through Simon Janashia, Ivane Tarkhnishvili, Tamar Chovelidze, Mikheil Zandukeli, Vasil Barnov, Yakob Gogebashvili, and Polikarpe Kakabadze streets. Access to Melikishvili Avenue and the Rustaveli metro area from other streets in the Mtatsminda district will be available via Aleksandre Griboedov, Kote Makashvili, Vasil Barnov, and Akaki Shanidze streets.
Private vehicles travelling to Liberty Square from the Rustaveli metro area can use Rustaveli Avenue, passing the olive tree, and continue along Mikheil Javakhishvili Street and the right bank of the Mtkvari River.
