Tbilisi City Hall has announced traffic restrictions on May 26, marking Georgia’s Independence Day.
Initially, the limitation will apply to Republic Square.
From 7:00 a.m. on May 21 to May 27, vehicles will be unable to turn right onto Merab Kostava Street in Republic Square.
From 20:00 on May 23 to 00:00 on May 24, traffic in Republic Square will be fully limited.
The limitation on Rustaveli Avenue and Freedom Square will last from 00:00 on May 25 to 07:00 on May 27.
The movement from Kote Abkhazi and Shalva Dadiani streets to Freedom Square will be constrained. Traffic for cars will be permitted on Giorgi Leonidze, Pavle Ingorokva, Aleksandre Chavchavadze, Aleksandre Griboedov, Nikoloz Baratashvili, and Revaz Tabukashvili streets.
Ivane Machabli Street traffic will now flow in a different direction. Giorgi Leonidze Street will be accessible by way of Ivane Machabli Street from Lado Asatiani Street.
Public transport routes operating in the said areas will also be altered during the restricted period. From Melikishvili Avenue, public transportation heading towards Freedom Square will travel to Olive Tree. From there, it will link to Baratashvili Street via Mikheil Javakhishvili Street and the Mtkvari right bank.
