From September 16 to 22, more than 3,000 European cities participated in the European Mobility Week under the theme of “shared public space,” with Tbilisi joining the initiative for the fourth consecutive year.
The Tbilisi Transport and Urban Development Agency organized various activities at several designated locations. Traffic was restricted on Mickiewicz and Kankava streets, creating pedestrian-friendly zones and spaces for non-motorized vehicles. An exhibition showcasing both old and new buses was held alongside a display of photographs of municipal buses on Mickiewicz Street.
During the week, the Ministry of Internal Affairs organized a mock bicycle race, where participants were symbolically awarded bicycle driving licenses.
Additionally, on September 16 and 21, events titled Evening in the Metro were held, and citizens also had the opportunity to visit the second bus depot of the Tbilisi Transport Company.
European Mobility Week aims to raise awareness of sustainable urban mobility through various activities, encouraging public transport use, walking, and cycling.
