Tamar Kordzaia: Constitutional Court to decide between Russian path and Georgia's interests
“The Constitutional Court of Georgia will decide tomorrow whether to follow the path of the Russian Constitutional Court or act and guide with Georgia’s interests,” said Tamar Kordzaia, one of the leaders of the Unity – National Movement coalition.
According to Kordzaia, if the Court does not suspend the validity of the Russian Law, it will inflict harm to the civil society and each citizen.
“Any other decision, be it interim or not full suspension, will be the continuation of the Russian Constitutional Court’s decision. We will try our best to build our arguments on risks that the law will bring along and will attempt the Court to make a favourable decision for the country.
One part of the sanctions will enter into force on September 1, and it would be reasonable for the Constitutional Court to make this decision before this date,” Tamar Kordzaia said.
On August 29, the Constitutional Court will hold a regulatory session to address the lawsuits filed against the Transparency of Foreign Influence Law.
