Surrogacy, IVF, insemination data to be added to Unified National Registry from 2024
Surrogacy, IVF, and insemination data will be added to a Unified National Registry beginning in January 2024.
According to the Ministry of Health, the medical facility where these operations are performed is required to provide information on the materials, cells, embryos, and components.
“The change aims to monitor service quality, process, and the traceability of these materials and the people associated with them. The registry’s information will be confidential,” says the Ministry.
As per the data, about 500 children were born through surrogacy in 2018, and more than 1,000 in 2022.
