Strong Georgia's Ana Dolidze: we will not give away people's choice
Ana Dolidze, one of the leaders of the coalition ‘Strong Georgia–Lelo, for People, for Liberty’, said the Central Election Commission (CEC)’s preliminary data “does not reflect the will of Georgian citizens.”
“We are enraged by what the Central Election Commission dared to publish. In the wake of universal bullying, fraud, and bribery, these numbers are contrary to the historical and today’s choice of the Georgian people” she noted, adding that “the coalition is fighting to protect each vote.” “We appreciate Georgians’ effort and we will not give away their choice.”
As per the Central Election Commission (CEC)’s preliminary data, Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia received 53,06% of votes (955 622), followed by Coalition for Change / Gvaramia, Melia, Girchi, Droa – 11.7% (201 275), Unity – National Movement – 9.94 % (177 349), Strong Georgia – Lelo, for People, for Liberty – 8.99% (162 056) and Gakharia for Georgia – 8.22% (148 007). In total, four opposition parties secured 38,22% of votes.
Georgia held parliamentary elections under a new fully proportional system, with voters set to elect all 150 members of parliament in a single round of voting.
The parties must secure at least 5% of the total vote to gain parliamentary representation. Eighteen political parties and coalitions are vying for seats in this race.
