Strong Georgia leader: "I was ready to sign coalition agreement; we must overcome technical hurdles"
“Yesterday, we reached an agreement in principle. Today, I saw a statement from Gakharia’s party, and I fear that momentum has been lost. The country must rise above technical issues,” stated Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of the Strong Georgia coalition, to the media after leaving the presidential palace.
“I believe that we have missed an important opportunity. Today, the country—and all of us—must focus on more than just technicalities. I have managed to do so personally, as has Badri, starting with the formation of a coalition that includes Aleko Elisashvili. Ana Dolidze and Levan Tsutskiridze are also important members of this coalition, and I respect them as key partners. When I speak today and arrive prepared to sign, I do so on behalf of the entire coalition.
Having signed numerous contracts with large corporations, I understand the excitement leading up to the final moment, but that intensity often diminishes once the deal is completed. We were ready for this signing yesterday when I left the presidential palace,” Khazaradze affirmed.
Earlier today, the For Georgia party issued a statement on social media, indicating that Lelo had not yet achieved internal consensus, and with the election approaching, a conclusive agreement had not been finalized.
