Strong Georgia Coalition to await Court of Appeals ruling before formulating action plan
“We will await the judgment of the Court of Appeals, as miracles can happen before we decide on our future action plan,” stated Mamuka Khazaradze, a leader of the Strong Georgia coalition.
According to Khazaradze, new parliamentary elections must be held in Georgia.
“This current parliament cannot be considered legitimate. We will wait for the court’s decision. I do not wish to preemptively speculate, as miracles might occur. Let’s see the outcome and then we will formulate our action plan moving forward.
I am confident that nothing will diminish our strength and fight for freedom. I want to remind those who are reluctant to brave the cold and mistakenly believe that showing support on Facebook equates to meaningful engagement: this struggle will continue, and I am pleased that our battle has overshadowed other news.
This election has demonstrated that we should not expect anyone to act on our behalf if we do not take a stand ourselves. There is only one essential issue at hand: our motherland, which can be independent, just, and progressive through the active involvement of us and our citizens, or it can fall under the control of high-ranking Russian officials dictating how we should live,” he asserted.
Khazaradze also noted that the opposition secured a victory in the elections in Tbilisi and urged residents to “wake up.”
“Wake up, Tbilisi, and respond to the fraud. We will not accept the election results. New elections will be called in Georgia, without question,” he added.
The Tbilisi Court of Appeals is currently reviewing lawsuits related to election fraud from the October 26 elections. Opposition politicians, along with representatives from NGOs and civil society, are rallying outside the court building.
