Strategy Aghmashenebeli urges President to act for realization of European Perspective

Giorgi Vashadze, leader of the opposition Strategy Aghmashenebeli party urges President Salome Zourabichvili to take practical steps and use her minimal competence for the realization of Georgia’s European Perspective.

Vashadze echoed the President’s yesterday statement regarding sanctioning of judges, where she called on the government to take effective steps.

“Calls do not help anything. The institution of the president has specific functions. For example, let’s ask the question, why she nominated to the High Council of Justice a person who makes all decisions for the clan. This person is a relative of the clan members. So [the president] should either recall the person, cancel the decision it or do something about it,” Giorgi Vashadze said.

According to him, the president should clearly say what effective steps she is going to take.

“I ask Salome Zourabichvili, what are you doing, Mrs. Salome? Do you plan to take steps or just limit yourself to talking? She should say what effective steps she intends to take. This is the difference in our standpoints, mere talking is not enough,” Vashadze said.
