“People select leaders, it is good that the President has such a wish to be a leader,” said Paata Manjgaladze, a member of the Strategy Aghmashenebeli party.

Manjgaladze remarked on the statement of President Salome Zourabichvili saying she will present the European Action Plan Platform proposing society, and political parties unite to reach a common goal. 

According to Paata Manjgaladze, three centers would be favorable for the election process saying Victory Coalition existed with the unification of the United National Movement (UNM) and Strategy Aghmashenebeli parties, and negotiations on forming unities were underway. 

“Unity is difficult to achieve. People come from different backgrounds, have different biographies. It may not be unity, but it should not be so fragmented that it would face the problem of overcoming the 5 percent threshold. For example, if three centers are created, which will certainly overcome the 5 percent threshold, it will be very good for the electoral process,” he said.

Paata Manjgaladze said he was not against the idea of the President’s being a leader.

“We have nothing against. Let President Zourabichvili be the leader of this process. I believe everyone is a leader, who carries the Georgian flag and joins the rallies,” he said.
