Speaker: We completed Paris Olympics ranking 24th place among 206 Olympic teams, surpassing 18 EU member countries
“We finished the Paris Olympics with the best result in history and ranked 24th among 206 Olympic teams. Thanks to our Olympic delegation and all those who contributed to the success,” wrote Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Facebook.
According to the Speaker, with the historic result, Georgia outruns 18 EU member countries. Five EU member states failed to win any medals at the Olympics.
“In recent years, Georgia has been a stable leader in terms of economic growth and governance indicators, not only in the region but also, in some cases, compared to EU member states. Along with the talent of our people, the historic result of the Olympics is due to this development.
While the opposition is busy applauding foreign and undermining Georgian seeing Georgia on the donation of other countries, such results demonstrate to everyone both inside and outside the country that Georgia’s progress and strength lie within ourselves and that Georgia’s present is as bright as its future.
Let the opposition swear its oath, but let us repeat everywhere and always in our hearts and publicly – I am proud to be Georgian,” the Speaker wrote.
Georgia won seven medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics: Three gold, three silver and one bronze. According to Eurosport, Georgia ranked seventh with number of gold medals per capita.
