Speaker: U.S. Embassy statement reveals how foreign funding fuels uncontrolled hybrid warfare

“The hysteria from the opposition, certain media outlets, and NGOs regarding the U.S. Embassy’s recent statement illustrates how foreign funding has fostered an uncontrollable monster of hybrid warfare,” stated Georgian Parliamentary Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.

As he emphasised, this also underscores the rationale behind the new U.S. administration’s decision to completely shut down channels that financed propaganda and destabilised societies using American taxpayers’ money.

“The speculation, hysteria, and conspiracy theories propagated by radical opposition groups, foreign-funded media, and NGOs in response to the U.S. Embassy’s statement clearly demonstrate how foreign financing has created an uncontrolled monster of hybrid warfare. It also confirms that the U.S. administration’s decision to cut off funds used to spread propaganda and incite internal unrest was entirely justified, especially at the expense of the American people,” Papuashvili asserted.

On May 7, the U.S. Embassy in Georgia issued an alert regarding a bomb threat targeting three Tbilisi shopping malls. In response, the Georgian State Security Service stated that its relevant units had determined the threat to be another false alarm. The agency also urged diplomatic missions to respect the work of national security services and to refrain from making public statements without proper coordination with relevant authorities.

On May 8, the Embassy officially lifted the alert.
