Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili echoed the developments over Tbilisi Pride Festival and said the government condemned any kind of violence.
According to Papuashvili, the police managed to cope with the situation and prevented the injury of participants. He said the police were preparing but a big crowd arrived to disrupt the event.
“The main thing is that people’s safety has been protected, and the police will analyze this accordingly,” he said.
Police and anti-Pride Festival rally participants clashed at Lisi Wonderland, outskirts of Tbilisi, where the Pride Festival was due to take place. Pride Festival participants left the territory due to security risks. They evacuated by mini-buses saying the police failed to ensure their security.
