Chairman of the Georgian Parliament Shalva Papuashvili met with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
According to the parliamentary press service, the parties positively assessed the close friendly and partnership relations between the two countries and peoples and reviewed current and upcoming projects and events in transport, energy, culture, and interpersonal relations. The parties emphasized the role and importance of the parliaments of Georgia and Azerbaijan in strengthening bilateral ties.
The meeting also addressed the security situation in the region, Karabakh-related processes, and the possibilities of establishing long-term peace.
The Georgian parliamentary delegation, led by Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, is visiting Azerbaijan. The delegation comprises Vice-Speaker Archil Talakvadze, deputy chair of the Georgian Dream faction Greta Tsitsava, the ruling party MPs Savalan Mirzoev, Zaur Dargali, and the United National Movement – Unified Opposition faction member Ramaz Nikolaishvili.
