Speaker notes OSCE report disappoints opposition and affiliated NGOs, indicating focus is not on elections
“Everyone, including the opposition itself, acknowledges that we are experiencing an unprecedentedly calm pre-election environment. In fact, the opposition is even expressing concern about this tranquillity. The OSCE/ODIHR report, which covers the period leading up to the elections, confirms this unprecedented calm,” Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, stated.
According to Papuashvili, the OSCE specifically noted that there are no systemic problems present.
“It appears that the OSCE report has disappointed the opposition and the non-governmental organizations associated with them. They seem to be preparing not for the elections but rather for the day after, employing various tactics to achieve their objectives. They will likely attempt to create a misleading narrative regarding the alleged use of administrative resources, media harassment, and a violent environment—issues that the OSCE/ODIHR has confirmed are not problematic in our context. Perhaps international observers will also be influenced by such a fabricated perception. In light of this scenario, the statement we received from the State Security Service suggests they have data indicating that attempts are being made to instil hysteria in the society through various methods,” Papuashvili added.
