Speaker: No matter which town, village or district opposition goes to, they will be held accountable for sacrificing people to war, destruction and death
“The moment has come when the opposition will have to speak to people and it will not come as a surprise that people in Kakheti will demand a response for insulting the wine, in Adjara – for throwing eggs toward tourists, those who have family members in Russia for picketing the airport,” said Georgian Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili at the briefing at the Georgian Dream party’s central office.
According to the Speaker, no matter which town, village or district the opposition goes to, they will be held accountable for sacrificing people to war, destruction and death.
The Speaker remarked that the opposition had changed rhetoric lately and those who sowed xenophobia and were in favour of the imposition of sanctions on Russia, now speak about the benefits of selling wine and apples in Russia and Russian tourists.
Shalva Papuashvili said that the opposition had already received the first wave of public anger these days.
“They saw that people support the government’s rational policy and that is why those, who directly headed the country to the war, now started to speak about peace and trade with Russia. Georgian people saw their hypocritical faces and exposed them.
The last two years have been the best illustration of where the opposition stands at critical moments. Time has proven that the opposition and their non-governmental organizations did not take the side of the Georgian people at any critical moment. Every time, they acted in line with what others wanted them to do and for which step they would be praised from abroad instead of what our people needed,” Papuashvili said.
