Speaker meets with committee chairpersons of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis

The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, met with the committee chairpersons of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Papuashvili wrote on social media that they discussed the strong friendship and productive cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan during the meeting.

“We focused on parliamentary ties, which are effective both in relations between the heads of legislative bodies and between thematic committees.

We noted the importance of high-level visits for further development of relations. We emphasized the political views and priorities of Georgian and Azerbaijani governments, which are oriented towards protecting sovereignty, national interests, and the welfare of the population.

We discussed the situation in the South Caucasus region. We emphasized the importance of a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. I also noted the productive cooperation between Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey in the trilateral format.

I thanked the Azerbaijani side for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and in this regard, reaffirmed support for Azerbaijan,” Shalva Papuashvili wrote.
